A passionate, sensitive and versatile pianist, Kay has performed with musicians at venues such as the National Gallery of Victoria, BMW Edge at Federation Square, Stones of the Yarra Valley Winery, Zonzo Restaurant, Stones of the Yarra Valley Winery and more. She has accompanied Bachelor of Music Theatre students for their recitals at the Victorian College of the Arts and has recorded a CD entitled 'Sombras' with La Tin Shed Orqestra, playing the music of Astor Piazzolla. 

She traveled to the United States in 2014 to study at the New York Jazz Academy where she completed a summer intensive. She enjoys jazz improvisation and playing as part of the band at her church. She works as a classroom music teacher and directs a choir at an independent school, preparing students for regular performances in the school and wider community. She also teaches music theory, aural skills and piano to private students. She was music director of the primary school production "King of the Jungle" which was performed in September 2013 at Robert Blackwood Hall, Monash University. In October 2016, she directed the junior school production "The Peace Child", which was performed at The 1330 Venue in Scoresby. She enjoys developing her skills in singing, backing vocals, drum kit, piano accordion, ukulele, violin and alto sax.

She has worked with violinists, cellists, violists, opera singers, music theatre vocalists, jazz singers, saxophonists, clarinettists, flautists, harpists, trumpeters, chamber music ensembles, church music ensembles, Argentinean tango ensembles, jazz ensembles and various choirs. She has accompanied students for AMEB and VCE examinations, university auditions and examinations.

Kay has been involved as co-musical director in the inaugural Music for Life concert at the University of Melbourne’s Melba Hall in 2008. The organising team were inspired to have compassion on disadvantaged and marginalised people both in the local and global community by bringing musicians together for a benefit concert which donated over $2000 in proceeds to Young Musicians Together, a program run by volunteers using donated instruments to help Sudanese refugees integrate into society by sharing both western instruments and Sudanese music traditions. She was also music director for the Jazz Night concert in 2009, which gave young people the opportunity to perform with more experienced jazz musicians in a casual café environment. This event donated over $2000 towards building renovations at the venue where this was held. 

She particularly enjoys providing live music for weddings and special events, whether in a piano solo capacity or with classical or contemporary musicians. In the past she has played in a piano trio, with cello and violin at Quat Quatta in Ripponlea for a wedding reception. Recently, she played the Wakeley Pipe Organ at Hawthorn Presbyterian Church for a large wedding ceremony. She also collaborated with a guitarist and singer for a wedding ceremony at one2one Church of Christ in Ballarat and provided ceremony music at an outdoor wedding ceremony at Helen’s Hill Winery in Coldstream. Kay also enjoys choreographing figure skating programs for herself for local artistic skating competitions.
